I almost squished this guy. He was on the ground by a tree I was photographing. When I put my tripod down, the leaves moved. Then I figured out it wasn't leaves. Excellent disguise!! I've never seen anything like it in person. Those wings look like a painting.
EDIT: Thanks to a loyal blog reader, I have learned that my specimen is a moth. All I know of moths are the ugly little brown things that fly into lights.
